I have bi polar depression and I started smoking recently. When I wasn't medicated I always had a bad high, but when I am medicated my highs are awesome!

Are there any negative consequences for smoking while medicated on my meds (Citalopram)?

If you're not having bad highs or anything, then there's nothing to worry about :)

I figured that was ok. I've just heard that weed can make depression worse sometimes...

I'm bipolar too and thanks to weed i've only had to take a few months worth of meds in the last 10 years. It has done nothing but have positive effects for me

That's great it worked out for you!

I think my best bet is to stay medicated while I smoke.

Probably, has different effects on different people. Or I was misdiagnosed. Older I get the more I lean towards the latter

I would assure you its prob better to take your meds then not, and since depression is usally a chemical disembalence i would only assume it must work along the lines of triggering those chemicals which make you feel good.. since hey your getting high. Thus making your meds level you, and allow you to enjoy being La Baked!;bonghit just my 2 cents.

My wife has depression, and I can tell you from experience... Don't ever stop taking your meds unless the doctor takes you off, even if you think you're feeling better. She though she was doing better and stopped her meds, and in a weeks she went into a huge downward spiral. She had to go to the local stress center twice within a two month period and I was afraid she was going to kill herself. Luckily that didn't happen, but it was a very stressful time for both of us.

As for smoking weed while on your meds, I don't think it's a problem. My wife and I have smoked many times and it has never negatively affected her.

If you've already smoked with meds and it went well, you're probably good.

But as a warning, the one time I've seen someone have a negative reaction to weed (a sort of panic attack, accelerated pulse) was when mixing it with I believe anti-anxiety meds. It was a friend who'd smoked before while not on meds and hadn't any negative experiences, but when on the meds he realized he didn't wanna smoke again. The bad spell lasted about three hours.

hey guys, a little off topic...i need some help, and you all can relate to me best

ive been having depression since i was prob 12. my father is medicated for depression (we arent in contact so i cant ask him about it) and he is also a alcoholic ive never really had anyone to talk to about it or anything

so my question is: what kind of a doctor should i go see? how do i get info about what insurance they take and start a account at the office?

sorry if its hard to read, im self diagnosed and self medicated (weed) at the moment and tonight was a big crash in my depression (which is why i decided to stop just lurking on the forum and actually sign up)

if yall can help me through this, id be greatful
    happy smoking ;bonghit
